A story of a startup not letting vacation planning to chance.
Approached by a former Yahoo! developer that wanted to “create something that can help him find out ‘what’s going on’”, I undertook a research journey that formulated a new persona, specific use cases and pain points. A travel companion, ISoPlanIt.com, was born.
intro
Friday arrives and you think: “What do I do tonight?” This is the question that a founder of ISoPlanIt.com was dealing with. He thought: There has to be a place where I can quickly hop on and find things to do. From there, many interviews, focus groups and on-site studies were conducted. Many lessons learned and even more ideas scrapped. What resulted was a guide for travelers where they learn about events and venues where they visit.
One of the lessons learned was that, when it came to being most 'lost' regarding things to do and places to go, travelers OF ALL AGES where at the tip of the spear. Our research revealed that planning and coordinating trips with friends led to great frustration. Is planning a trip a problem? ISoPlanIt and Meet your Planet!
Designed a digital itinerary tool with the aim of helping travelers find venues and events in far away places, and coordinate travel plans with friends and colleagues. I used surveys, user interviews and usability testing to gather data. Key deliverables were user journeys, wireframes, prototypes and a fully functional website.
